Our Beloved "Sisi connie"
Tribute for "sisi connie"
(from her cousins)
When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”
August 25, 2022 is a day we will never forget as we got the news that you had passed away. We could not hold back our tears as the news of your death kept echoing in our ears hoping and wishing it was not true. Our dear cousin Comfort, affectionately called "Sisi Connie " by all of us was a unique person. Her broad, warm smile was extraordinary and welcomed us whenever she opened her doors.
We are deeply saddened, and our bereavement is unimaginable. Sisi Connie had a zest for life and a genuine love for family. For those of us living abroad, one of our highlights when we visited Ghana was visiting Sisi Connie. She would always send us food parcels and bring gifts for us and our families when she visited us abroad. For those of us in Ghana she always held family gatherings in her house at Christmas and other special events and invited us all to come with our families and eat as much as we could. Sisi Connie always encouraged us and supported us in our businesses, careers and family life and would send us any helpful information and materials she found. Especially as we are mainly females, she was a role model to us as she was stylish, hardworking and entrepreneurial and always had her fingers in many pies and made a positive impact in many people's lives. Most of all Sisi Connie loved God and she will always pray with us and send us Bible scriptures to show that she was thinking about us.
Some of the personal recollections we have from Winne, Emma and Laila is when our late father Mr W Asare-Brown was posted to Rome as a diplomat, Sisi Connie took Winnie and Emma as young children to join him, and later Laila was born in Rome and that’s where the bond started and continued until her passing day. As a big sister Sisi Connie helped our mum take care of us. Sisi Connie loved shopping. Her favourite place in the UK was Oxford Street where Kofi her son would patiently go around with her without complaining. Her favourite shop was Marks and Spencer, a very loyal customer. We used to tease her that M&S looked forward to her coming every summer as they can see their sales increase. Another favourite place of Sisi Connie, were the Mill Hill boutiques. She always made sure she cooked for Winnie's husband Sonny when Winnie travelled and encouraged both of them to attend the Accra Ridge church breakfast meetings and purchased tickets for them.
Rosa recalls Sisi Connie visiting her in the states and going to church together on Sunday. During bible study time Sisi Connie stood up and answered all the questions in the bible study book. Her answers impressed the rev. minister in charge so much that at the end of the service the minister gave her a gift for doing so well during the bible study time. Sisi Connie loved to study the word of God! A woman of great faith.
Emma has fond memories from a few years ago when Sisi Connie was involved in an African businesswomen initiative known as 'She Trades Africa', she encouraged Emma to join to promote her skincare products and they attended a conference in Liverpool together. Sisi Connie has very happy meeting with various women and businesses from around the world as she promoted her Maa Grace garments and Emma was very grateful, she attended and still maintains the membership of 'She Trades Africa' to this day.
Sisi we miss you so much and we don’t understand why you were taken from us at this time but we trust that God has a higher calling and you will spend eternity with Him. We cannot thank you enough for everything you did for us and our families. We will continue to hold you dearly in our hearts and reciprocate the love and support, that you showed us towards our dear uncle Hack (Honourable), Eugene, Nana Serwah, Kofi, Akosua, Kwaku as well us our cousin Gifty and their families.
Sisi Connie rest in peace and glory until we meet again.
